Greetings! We are the two artists responsible for what you are seeing on these pages of our website. The two of us moved to Nova Scotia from Ontario in 1997, settling for eight years in Mahone Bay, where we renovated an historical property and established a small business called The Maritime Painted Saltbox Heritage Reproduction Furniture and Fine Art Gallery .  We designed and built heritage reproduction furniture and opened a gallery in the house to exhibit our furniture, contemporary fine art and folk art.  It made for a unique gallery experience, as we were also a bed and breakfast.  Over the years several thousand folks passed through our house on historical house tours, gallery showings, garden tours, and as guests of our bed and breakfast.  We were twice featured on HGTV, ("Design for Living " with Kimberley Seldon and on "In the Workshop").
There are just the two of us. We  only make just so many pieces of furniture or paint just so many works of art, and express ourselves whimsically just for a bit.   We've acquired quite an accumulation of images of our artistry over the years (images of our newest work will be posted on our website in late spring.) We hope that you enjoy seeing them on our website, and that you will come to visit our  gallery when in Petite Riviere.  We're open daily from May through October.   At other times by chance or appointment. Take a Preview Tour of Our Galleries and also visit The Coop The Maritime Painted Saltbox is listed in the 20th edition of "The Maritimes Antique Dealers and Services Guide for Nova Scotia."  We are also listed in "The Guide to Craft and Art in Nova Scotia 2008 and Studio Rally 2008Contact us above.

The scenery around Nova Scotia inspires us !

In the fall of 2005 we moved  to Petite Riviere ,  a small picturesque seaside village down the coast from Mahone Bay, acquiring a property with a barn.  We  set up our workshop  and converted four rooms on two floors into gallery space.   In 2008, T he Maritime Painted Saltbox celebrates its tenth season on the south shore of Nova Scotia.
We are inspired by the indigenous heritage furniture that was built here in 19th Century Nova Scotia.  The bold Nova Scotia seascapes influence our paintings.  And Peter's folk artistry finds expression among kindred spirits.
